Cheryl Hardin
Painting and writing are most often solitary endeavors which suit me well. I try to convey in my works a sense of place and time rather than factual representation.
In painting, I am drawn toward subjects portraying an interplay between man made and nature's own luminous palette. The paintings deemed to have a certain mystique are the ones where the painting itself takes over. When the work evokes a tranquility that goes beyond the elements of a scene, the work is complete.
Likewise, when writing, I am drawn toward developing characters whose interplay, whether passion or anger, is true. Though fictional, when the characters ring true, the work can be completed. [MORE]
